Join the #EndItMovement to Stamp out Slavery

Today, February 27, 2013, many people are going silent in regards to social media in order to garner awareness for the 27,000,000 humans who are in slavery today. We all learned about slavery in our history classes, but the fact of the matter is that there are more human slaves today than there have been in any other point in history. It's absolutely terrible and sickening, if you think about it, but how many of us actually think about it? Truth is, I didn't have any idea until this past week. I knew human trafficking and sex slaves were rising problems, but was totally unaware of the magnitude of the issue.

The End It Movement is seeking to change this. This movement is seeking to not only free those who are currently trapped in slavery , but to offer them help and to ensure that no one else has to face it.

As part of this movement, they are calling for a day of social media silence to raise awareness. Now, I'm utterly failing at this, as I am writing a blog and will be posting it on Twitter , Facebook, Google+, etc... today, but oh well. Perhaps, my posting, for those still participating in social media today, will bring some awareness.

This is a serious problem, a problem that exists among many other problems in our world, one that needs to be addressed by humanity collectively and immediately. We look back in history with horror at stories of slavery. We celebrate in America when we abolished slavery, yet slavery is more alive and well in the world, and yes, in America, than it has ever been before. It may be somewhat underground and hidden, but just because you and I don't see it and don't have to see it doesn't mean that we have the freedom to ignore it. We must do what we can to End It!

To that end, I encourage you to watch the above video and go to www.enditmovement.com to see how you can get involved and be a part of making a difference  in the lives of at least 27,000,000 people stuck in slavery today.
